Hoist RS-2501 Shoulder Press Machine for Sale

The Hoist RS-2501 is a selectorized shoulder press machine for sale from Hamilton Home Fitness. It presses from a seated position on a rocking frame, using a fixed neutral grip and a pin-selected stack. It suits commercial gyms, light-commercial rooms, and serious home lifters who want one repeatable overhead groove.

Decision Snapshot

  • Grip position—neutral only, no rotation
  • Seat—ratcheting adjuster
  • Load changes—one selector pin
  • Placement—anchored in place, not portable
  • Warranty tier—commercial and light commercial
  • Best fit—one repeatable overhead groove

What This Shoulder Press Machine Does

The RS-2501 presses overhead while the seat moves with you. Hoist starts the handles in front of your body, then rocks you rearward so the handles finish overhead. The brand describes this as mimicking the natural movement of a dumbbell shoulder press.

Hoist also states that the rocking motion lines your arm up with the midline of your torso, which the company says decreases external rotation at the shoulder and reduces lower back arching. Those are the manufacturer's engineering claims, not measured results, and they describe the design intent behind the ROC-IT selectorized line.

What muscles does a shoulder press machine work on? It loads the deltoids as the prime movers, with the triceps assisting through lockout and the upper back and core working to hold position. On a rocking frame, the trunk stays engaged because your seat is never completely still.

The Grip Is Fixed, and That Is the Point

Choose the RS-2501 if you want one pressing groove that nobody can set up wrong.

Almost every shoulder press listing sells you on grip variety. Rotating handles, triple-grip designs, seven arm positions, converging arms that let each user pick an angle. Hoist sells that too, elsewhere in its own catalogue: the RS-2301 chest press carries Select-A-Grip handles with three angles, and the plate-loaded RPL-5501 shoulder press carries contoured handles with multiple grip positions.

The RS-2501 does not. Hoist designed it around a single neutral grip, stating that the hand position reduces potential shoulder impingements. There is no pronated option and no rotation. What adjusts instead is the fit: a ratcheting seat, plus the Club Line adjustable handles that Hoist's own RS line documentation names on only two models, this one and the chest press.

That trade is worth understanding before you order. Fewer grip settings means fewer ways for a busy room to press badly. It also means a lifter who wants a palms-forward barbell groove will not find it here.

Key Features

  • ✅ Neutral grip keeps wrists stacked over elbows
  • ✅ One grip means no setup guesswork per user
  • ✅ Ratcheting seat resets fast between users
  • ✅ Torso rocks with the press, not against it
  • ✅ Club Line handles adjust to your press width
  • ✅ Enclosed stack keeps your load out of view
  • ✅ Silent Steel stack cuts training-floor noise
  • ✅ Step-through entry speeds up circuit turns
  • ✅ Head support steadies heavy overhead work
  • ✅ Towel hook and bottle holder clear the floor
  • ✅ Scuff guards and foot pads protect surfaces
  • ✅ Optional logo wrap matches your gym branding
  • ✅ Optional add-on kit raises the top weight

Planning Space and Placement

Plan the floor before you plan the order. Hoist designs RS products to be permanently anchored in position, so this is a machine you site once rather than one you slide against a wall between sessions. Renters and anyone working over a floating floor should settle that question first.

How much space does a shoulder press machine need? Take the frame footprint, then add clear room behind for the step-through entry and beside the stack for a spotter or trainer to stand. A tape measure on the actual floor beats a spec sheet every time.

If you are laying out a full room rather than adding one station, our garage gym layout guide works through the clearances, and our team can handle the whole plan through a gym design consultation.

Ready to move? Add the RS-2501 to your cart and lock in your build.

Three honest routes to a pressed overhead rep, at three very different price points. The barbell option lives in our Olympic incline and decline bench range, and if you are still weighing resistance types, our guide to plate-loaded and selectorized machines covers that fork properly.

Warranty and Ownership Terms

Hoist describes its warranty as one of the best policies in the industry, and covers the original purchaser only against defects in workmanship or materials under normal use or service. Coverage applies to manufacturer defects, and Hoist reserves the right to change product specifications, design and function at any time. The full terms sit behind the "Support" link on the supplied documentation.

Under Hoist's current schedule, the RS line falls in the commercial and light-commercial tiers rather than the residential one. Light commercial means a facility charging no membership dues with fewer than fifty users a day, which covers most hotels, apartment clubhouses, and training studios. Reading the tier before you buy matters more than the headline number, a point our article on comparing gym equipment warranties makes in detail.

One ownership note worth knowing early: our shipping and returns terms allow a 30-day return on undamaged goods in original packaging with a restocking fee, but custom imported configurations are final sale. Choosing a custom frame or upholstery colour closes that window.

Who It Suits and Who Should Skip It

Being honest about fit saves everybody a freight bill. Here is the split.

A good fit for:

  • Gyms pressing fifty-plus users a day
  • Hotels and apartment gyms without dues
  • Lifters who already press with a neutral grip
  • Rooms that need fast load changes
  • Facilities wanting one station set correctly

Skip it if you are:

  • After a pronated barbell grip
  • Renting and unable to anchor a frame
  • Reliant on a stated user weight limit
  • Building on a free-weight budget

Planning an amenity space rather than a training floor? Our hotel gym planning guide and our walkthrough for multifamily clubhouse gyms both cover the traffic and liability side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the RS-2501 have a published user weight limit?
No. Hoist does not state one in any of its documentation for this frame. If a stated capacity is a requirement for your facility's insurance or procurement, contact us and we will request it from the manufacturer in writing.

Why does the linked manual show a different model code?
The owner's manual currently linked serves the RS-1501, the predecessor to this machine. The specification sheet and brochure are correct for the RS-2501. Ask our team for the current build documentation before assembly day.

Does the weight stack figure already include the optional upgrade?
No. The add-on is ordered separately and raises both the stack and the total machine weight. The upgraded figures are listed separately above so you can budget for either configuration.

Can two people train on it at once?
No. This is a single-station machine with one seat and one stack, so it serves one user per set. Facilities running circuits should plan station count against their peak-hour headcount.

Can I match the frame to my gym's branding?
Yes. Hoist offers custom shield wraps and logo decals across the RS line at additional cost. Bear in mind that custom configurations are treated as final sale, so confirm your artwork before the order goes in.

Will it fit through my doorway?
Crate dimensions are not published for this frame. Call us before delivery so we can check access, stair routes and placement against the freight carrier's requirements.
