Commercial Plyo Boxes for Gyms, Schools and Teams

A commercial plyo box is a jump, step-up and landing platform built for shared use: many athletes, daily sessions and staff who move it between classes. The plyometric boxes here come in steel-frame, foam-core and wood styles, as single heights, rotating boxes and sets.

Which Plyo Boxes Suit Which Facility?

Match the box to the room: rotating foam boxes for classes, fixed-height steel for mixed-level teams, and low stackables where few people jump.

Choose steel sets when athletes at different levels train side by side. Choose rotating foam when one box has to serve every level in a small room.

The Body-Solid BSTPB steel-frame boxes fit the school room. They come as single boxes in seven heights or as a plyo box set of 3, 4 or 7, with a nonslip rubber platform on a 1-inch square steel frame.

Prefer a firm wood top? The Body-Solid BSTWPBOX rotates between 20, 24 and 30 inches and has sanded edges and a slip-free surface.

How Much Floor and Storage Does a Box Take?

Plan storage from base size and weight, not height alone. "Not listed" means the listing and data sheet give no figure.

Apollo Heavy Duty, 12 to 36 in17 x 17 to 28 1/4 x 28 1/4 in19 to 38 lb

York stackable step-up, 3 to 12 in24 x 24 inNot listed
TAG Fitness 3-WayNot listed65 lb

The TAG 3-Way (65 lb) and the 3-in-1 soft box (68 lb) are the heaviest boxes with a listed weight, so decide who moves them and where they live before you order. The commercial gym layout guide covers keeping training zones apart.

Which Checks Matter Before a Facility Orders?

Judge a box by how it handles shared use, not by height alone. Seven checks settle most orders:

  • ✅ A top wide enough for your largest athlete's stance
  • ✅ A nonslip top that survives daily wiping
  • ✅ A published rating above your heaviest athlete
  • ✅ Weight a staff member can move safely
  • ✅ A stacking or storage plan for the spot you have
  • ✅ Wipe-clean covers on any shared foam box
  • ✅ A weekly check you write down

Ask the maker for a data sheet before you approve an order. Body-Solid posts a BSTPB data sheet with every top and base size.

Most listings state no weight rating; the Body-Solid BSTPB boxes list 300 lb and the Hudson Steel PLYOBOX SOFT lists 450 lb, so get a written rating from the maker before you set athlete loads on any other box.

What Do Shared Boxes Need Around Them?

Give every box a grippy floor and open air above it. The 3-in-1 soft box listing says to avoid slick floors, and the PLYOBOX SOFT listing says to lean that box on a wall when you jump onto its tallest face. Lay rubber flooring under the jump station, and add a tall athlete's reach, jump and box height before you check the ceiling.

How Do You Keep Shared Boxes Clean and Safe?

Wipe covers after classes and inspect every box on a schedule. The soft set listing asks for a wiped PVC cover and a check of the Velcro and handles. Our commercial equipment maintenance guide adds a vinyl routine: damp cloth and warm water, no bleach, ammonia or alcohol sprays, and a pad replaced at the first tear or seam split. Check steel and wood boxes weekly for cracked tops, worn rubber and loose fasteners, and log each fix.

Plyometric Box Questions

Can you stack plyo boxes?

Yes, but only boxes made to stack. The Body-Solid BSTPB listing says its boxes are designed to stack for storage, and the York step-up boxes are described as stackable. The Soft PlyoBox 3 to 24 set stacks five platforms to 63 inches in all. No listing states a stacking limit, so get the maker's before anyone lands on a stack.

What are standard plyo box sizes?

Rotating boxes usually offer 20, 24 and 30 inch faces, and fixed steel boxes run from 6 to 42 inches in 6-inch steps. The Apollo Heavy Duty boxes cover 12 to 36 inches. A shared room needs several heights.

What are plyo soft boxes for?

Soft boxes give jump work and step-ups a padded landing. The Body-Solid BSTSPBOX listing says its soft sides reduce banged shins and scrapes, and the 3-in-1 soft box listing says its padded edges reduce shin scrapes on missed jumps. Padding softens a clip, not a poor landing.

Where can I buy a plyo box?

Order them on this page; they ship from Tennessee to all 50 states. Returns last 30 days and cover undamaged equipment in its original packaging; a 25% restocking fee and return shipping apply.
