The APE HIP THRUST (HTS) is a compact glute bridge machine built around the hip thrust movement: you drive your hips up and squeeze your glutes at the top. Its steel frame is the smaller of the two APE hip thrust frames, so it suits studios, garage gyms and tighter rooms.

Check these first on the APE HIP THRUST (HTS):

Key Features of the APE HIP THRUST

What the frame gives your glute day:

✅ Smaller footprint than the larger APE frame
✅ Rectangular steel tube frame
✅ No outlet or power needed

Glute bridge machine or hip thrust?

Mostly yes. Gyms use both names for driving the hips upward against load with the upper back supported. A floor glute bridge uses the same hip extension without the raised support. The manufacturer lists this machine as a hip thrust, glute bridge machine, so a search under either name leads here.

Our guide to hip thrust benefits and workouts explains what the movement trains and how to program it.

Which APE hip thrust frame fits your room?

Choose the HTS when floor space decides the order. It is smaller in every listed dimension than the larger APE frame (HTT). Choose the HTT if you have the room and want the bigger frame.

A garage corner that already holds a rack and a bench is the typical HTS spot. A studio floor with a clear lane for the bigger frame can take the HTT.

How much room does the HTS need?

Set the station up on paper first:

  1. Tape the listed size on the floor and stand inside the outline.
  2. Leave space around it to get on and off and to put your feet down.
  3. Lay rubber flooring under it if your room has a hard slab.

The HTS ships in a crate, so measure every doorway, turn and stair on the delivery path before you order.

Our guide to bench height for hip thrusts shows how to set the support height to your frame.

Planning to load it with plates or a bar? Call or text 423-458-2453 and we will confirm how the HTS loads and its crate size.

Is the HTS right for you?

A good match if you:

  • Are short on floor space
  • Want a dedicated glute station
  • Can plan a crated freight delivery

Better to skip if you:

  • Want the larger HTT frame
  • Need a confirmed loading method before you buy
  • Have no clear delivery path for a crate

More glute stations sit in our hip thrust category.

Glute bridge machine FAQs

How do you use a glute bridge machine?

Set your upper back against the support, plant your feet and drive your hips up until your shoulders, hips and knees line up. Squeeze your glutes at the top, then lower under control. Keep your ribs down so the work stays in your hips.

What does a glute bridge machine work?

The glutes lead the movement, with the hamstrings and inner thighs helping and the quads and core steadying you. Range of motion and load decide how hard the glutes work, so full hip extension at the top matters.

Why does a glute bridge hurt my back?

Common causes are finishing with the hips too high so the lower back arches, a load heavier than your form can hold, or a support set too low on your back. Lower the load, tuck your ribs and stop at a straight line from shoulder to knee. Pain that keeps returning is a reason to stop and see a qualified professional.

Is a glute bridge machine effective?

It works the glutes directly and lets you add load gradually, which is how progressive training works. Results depend on how you load it, how often you train and how you recover, so no machine can promise an outcome.
