The APE Adjustable IPF Powerlifting Combo Rack puts telescoping squat uprights and a flat bench in one frame, so squat and bench share one station. It suits garage gyms, powerlifting clubs and studios that program around the competition squat and bench.

Key Features of the APE Combo Rack

✅ One setup serves lifters of different heights
✅ A missed rep lands on the arms, not on you
✅ Bench stays lined up with the hooks

What does a powerlifting combo rack do?

What is a combo rack in powerlifting? It is one frame that holds the bar for squats and carries a bench for the press, so a lifter moves from one lift to the other without rearranging anything. On this rack, the uprights telescope and lock with pins, and the bench sits between them in line with the hooks.

Scenario: a club runs four lifters through squat and bench in one session. The hooks and the bench stay put, and only the pin heights change from lifter to lifter. Browse more formats in our racks and rack packages.

Is the IPF in the name an approval?

No. The IPF Approved List for 2023 to 2026 does not include APE (checked 3 November 2026), so treat this as a training rack. The IPF requires racks and benches from its approved manufacturers at its World, Regional and Continental Championships, and that list is valid until 31 December 2026. Check your own federation's equipment rules before a local meet.

Combo rack or power rack?

Choose the combo rack if squat and bench are your two lifts and you want both on one footprint. Choose the AP100 power rack if you want pull-ups on the frame, because no pull-up bar is listed for the combo rack.

If your program needs incline or decline pressing, plan on a separate adjustable weight bench alongside it.

Add the combo rack to your cart if squat and bench carry your program.

What should you check before the crate arrives?

The rack ships by freight as an import. Plan the route before the truck is booked.

Measure every doorway, turn and stair on the delivery path against the packed crate before it arrives.

Check the path first, then place your order once the crate clears every opening.

Is this combo rack right for you?

A good match if you:

  • Program around the competition squat and bench
  • Coach several lifters through both lifts
  • Want one footprint instead of a rack plus a bench

Better to skip if you:

  • Need an incline or decline bench
  • Want pull-ups on the same frame
  • Have a ceiling too low for the larger height

Delivery, Returns, and Warranty

Shipping is free on all APE equipment. Before delivery day, clear a path from your door to the lifting area wide enough for the packed rack. Our freight shipping guide explains how LTL freight and liftgate delivery work.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase with a receipt or proof of purchase when the rack is working, undamaged, and in its original packaging; a damaged or incomplete return may be refunded only in part. Custom imported items are for final sale, though their warranty still applies. Otherwise, a 25% restocking fee applies; you pay return shipping; equipment used beyond testing can't come back; and cancelling before shipment costs 2.5%, as our shipping and returns policy explains.

The rack carries its manufacturer's warranty. If anything arrives damaged or fails, call us and we'll put it right under that warranty.

Powerlifting Combo Rack FAQs

What are the pins on a combo rack for?

They lock the upright height and the spotter arm depth. Seat each pin fully before you load the bar, and match both sides so the bar sits level. This is also how you adjust the rack between lifters.

What is the difference between a combo rack and a half rack?

A combo rack has the bench built into the frame, so nothing is rearranged between squat and bench. A half rack needs a separate bench placed in front of it. Our guide to power racks, half racks and squat stands compares the formats.

How much room does a powerlifting combo rack need?

More than the frame itself. Leave space beyond it for loading plates and walking out a squat, then compare the listed overall size with your floor and ceiling.

Does a combo rack need to be bolted down?

It depends on the rack, the load and the floor. The listing for this rack publishes no anchoring instructions, so set it on a flat, rigid floor and check that it sits level before you load the bar.
