Key Features

These are the design choices you notice once the bar is on your cable.

✅ Urethane grips for a firm, comfortable hold
✅ Two grip options on one bar
✅ Chrome finish that wipes clean after training
✅ Quick to clip on and swap out

What a V Bar Is Used For

This kind of attachment keeps your hands at a set width instead of spreading them along a long straight bar. On this TAG Fitness model, grip sleeves cover the angled arms of the V and both straight ends, so you can hold it close and angled or wider and flat without changing attachments.

What is a V bar used for? Mostly triceps pushdowns on a high pulley and seated cable rows on a low pulley. Exercise ideas here are general guidance; if you are training around a shoulder or elbow injury, check with your physical therapist first.

Can you use a V bar for lat pulldowns? Yes, as a close-grip pulldown with your hands near the center of the bar. For seat and grip basics on the machine itself, read our beginner lat pulldown setup guide.

How to Attach It to Your Cable

Attach the bar before you load the stack, in this order:

1. Set the pulley height for your exercise
2. Open the cable's snap hook or carabiner
3. Pass the clip through the bar's attachment eye
4. Lock the clip and test with a light weight

Still choosing a machine? The TAG Fitness Elite Functional Trainer is a cable station from the same brand.

If you want a dedicated pulldown and row unit instead, look at the Elite Lat Pull/Row Dual Select. Order the V bar today and have it ready for your next cable workout.

Who This Bar Suits

The answer depends on which cable moves fill most of your workout.

Good fit

  • Home gyms with one cable station
  • Lifters who switch grips mid-workout
  • Small studios that keep attachments to a minimum

Not the right pick

  • You mainly train wide-grip pulldowns
  • You need a landmine row handle
  • You want a one-arm cable handle

Before you order, make sure the clip on your cable opens wide enough to pass through the bar's attachment eye.

V Bar Questions

Is a V bar or a rope better for triceps pushdowns?

Neither suits everyone. Choose the V bar if you want a rigid handle that holds both hands at one width; choose a rope if you want your hands free to split apart at the bottom of each rep. We also stock the TAG Fitness 24″ Tricep Rope for lifters who want both.

Is a V bar the same as a double grip row handle?

No. A double grip or triangle row handle puts two short parallel handles side by side, mainly for seated rows. This multi-purpose model spreads its grips along angled arms and straight ends, so it also covers pushdowns.

Can you do bicep curls with a V bar?

Yes. Set the pulley low, hold the straight ends with your palms up, and curl toward your chest while your elbows stay at your sides. Start light until the movement feels smooth.

How do you do a V bar row?

Sit facing the row station with your feet braced, hold the angled arms, and pull the bar toward your lower ribs. Keep your chest up and let your shoulder blades move with each rep. Our seated row machine guide covers setup and form in more detail.
