Glute Lift Elite: The Hip Thrust Half of an Ab and Glute Machine Setup

The Glute Lift Elite is a selectorized hip thrust machine from The Abs Company, priced at $4,304. Users sit, strap a wide padded belt across the hips, select resistance up to 180 lb, and drive upward. If you searched for an ab and glute machine, this is the glute half of that setup.

Why One Machine Can't Do Both

Search for an AB and glute machine, and you'll find plenty of products promising both. Physiology disagrees. Your abs flex or brace the spine. Your glutes extend the hip. Those are opposite jobs, and a frame built to split the difference tends to do neither one properly.

The Glute Lift Elite picks a side. It is a glute machine built around a single loaded hip extension, and that refusal to compromise is exactly why it works.

Is there a single machine that trains abs and glutes? Not convincingly. The honest answer is two stations. Pair this with the Ab Coaster CTL, and both halves are covered properly—which is how The Abs Company builds its own ab and glute zones.

  • Abs work through spinal flexion or bracing
  • Glutes work through loaded hip extension
  • One compact frame rarely serves both well
  • Two focused stations beat one hybrid

How the Glute Lift Elite Works

The workflow is four steps: Sit on the large seat, strap the wide belt across your hips, pin your weight, and drive upward. No bar to load. No bench to line up. No plates rolling across the floor between sets.

That matters more than it sounds. The barbell hip thrust is a genuinely effective movement that most people set up badly—bar digging into the hip bone, bench sliding backward, a pad that never sits quite right. Here the belt spreads load across the whole hip, and the ergonomic back pad holds your upper body steady on every rep.

Is a hip thrust machine better than a barbell hip thrust? Not better—easier to do correctly. The barbell wins on maximum load. This wins on setup speed, comfort, and getting hesitant lifters to train hips at all.

Questions Buyers Ask

What muscles does the Glute Lift Elite train? The glutes, through a loaded hip extension. Hamstrings assist at the top of the range. It does not train the abdominals, despite what the search term suggests.

Is 180 lb enough for advanced lifters? For most, yes. A belted machine hip lift isolates the glutes rather than recruiting the whole posterior chain, so useful working loads sit well below barbell numbers. Advanced lifters chasing heavier pins should look at the 295 lb stack on the Coaster TL.

Will the crate fit through a standard doorway? Not without checking first. The shipping crate measures 35 inches wide, and a standard interior door is 32. Measure your entry path, and tell us about tight turns before delivery is booked.

Can beginners use it safely? Yes, that's the design intent. The seat, belt, and back pad set your position for you, which removes most of the setup guesswork that makes loaded hip work intimidating.

Is it suitable for rehab or clinical use? Guided machines are often used in supervised settings because they control range and load. Suitability depends entirely on the individual, so have a qualified clinician approve any protocol before programming it.

Does it work in a home gym or only commercial floors? Both, if the space and access work. At 559 lb with a 64" x 51" footprint, this is a permanent installation rather than something you move between sessions.
