Upgraded Power Plate® my5™ Vibration Trainer in Matte Black

The Upgraded Power Plate® my5™ is an upright whole-body vibration trainer for the home, built around a vibrating platform and a handled column. You squat, stretch, balance, or hold a plank while the platform moves beneath you. It suits adults who want short training sessions at home and have room for an upright machine.

These are the Power Plate my5 figures most buyers check first.

How the My5 Moves Your Muscles

How does a power plate work? The platform vibrates in three directions at once: up and down, side to side, and forward and back. Your muscles answer with fast reflex contractions, so a held squat or plank becomes active work. Power Plate calls this patented, multidirectional motion, PrecisionWave™ Technology, the tri-planar type among whole-body vibration machines.

Frequency, measured in hertz, is how many times per second the platform cycles, and amplitude is how far it travels each time. The DualSync™ Twin Motor System runs two motors in step, keeping the vibration synchronized at every frequency and amplitude setting.

This upgraded my5 runs from three places. The main touchscreen console sets frequency, amplitude, and workout time. New lower repeat controls rerun your last session with one press. An upgraded remote control adjusts settings while you hold a low squat or sit on the platform.

Start on low amplitude at the bottom of the frequency range, then raise one setting at a time as sessions get easier.

What Power Plate Claims, and What's Proven

Power Plate's claims for the my5 are broad, and the research is narrower. The brand positions the my5 as a low-impact exercise and rehabilitation tool for home use. It states that my5 can increase bone density and bone strength, burn more calories, burn fat quicker, and improve circulation, flexibility, core strength, and muscle recovery. It also says the machine activates more muscle fibers, increases strength, and tightens skin.

Does a power plate really work? Research on whole-body vibration points to possible gains in muscle activation, balance, circulation, and recovery. The evidence is still developing, and results vary by person. Rehabilitation use belongs under a physician's or physical therapist's guidance. Treat my5 as an addition to strength work and walking, not a replacement.

Who the My5 Suits, and Who Should Skip It

Check both lists before you order, because a machine at this price should match how you actually train.

Who It Suits

The my5 fits these buyers best:

  • Home users who want handles for standing moves
  • Older adults cleared for balance and strength work
  • Users who mix stretching, core, and recovery work

Who Should Skip It

Look elsewhere in these cases:

  • Anyone who needs to store it or move it often
  • Users heavier than its maximum load
  • Gyms that need a commercial-rated platform

Who should not use a power plate? Anyone with a condition that vibration could aggravate needs clearance first. Some conditions rule it out, some need a clinician's sign-off, and some only call for a slower start. Our guide on who should not use a vibration plate shows which group you fall into.

Check with your physician before using the my5 if you are pregnant or have a pacemaker, a recent implant, a retinal condition, or a clotting disorder.

Space, Delivery, and Returns to Plan For

Plan the room and the delivery route before my5 arrives. Measure the floor where it will live and the path from your door, because larger platforms like the my5 ship as freight.

Is a power plate loud? It hums rather than rattles, but on upper floors some vibration can carry into the rooms below. The My Series New Power Shield sits under the my5 to cut that downward vibration and noise, which suits apartments, offices, and wood floors.

A unit used beyond testing can't be returned, so confirm the fit before you unbox it. Returns run 30 days for undamaged equipment in its original packaging, with a 25% restocking fee and return shipping paid by the buyer. Cancelling before shipment carries a 2.5% fee. Read the full shipping and returns terms before ordering.

Power Plate my5 vs MOVE vs my8

Two Power Plate models bracket the my5 for home buyers: the Power Plate MOVE costs less at $3,720.00, and the my8 costs more at $10,495.00.

Is the Power Plate my5 worth it? It is for buyers who train standing most days and want precise intensity control instead of presets. Step up to my8 if on-screen, coach-led workouts are worth the extra cost.

Power Plate my5 FAQ

How long should a power plate session last? Power Plate says a complete workout can take as little as 15 minutes. Most people reach that through a few short sets rather than one long run.

How often should you use a power plate? Two to three sessions a week is a common starting point for training, with gentler stretching and massage sessions run more often. If you manage a health condition, let your clinician set the schedule.

Can you lose weight with a power plate? Not on its own. Body weight changes mainly with overall activity and diet, so vibration training plays a supporting role on busy days.

Can seniors use a power plate? Many can. Have someone nearby for the first few sessions. After stepping off, stand still for a moment, since a brief blood pressure dip can cause unsteadiness.

Do power plate vibrations hurt? They shouldn't. Mild itching or tingling in the legs is common at first and usually fades within a few sessions. Stop and see a clinician if headaches, lasting dizziness, or new joint pain appear.
