The Hoist Power Squat CF-3359 is a plate-loaded lever squat machine from Hoist Fitness's commercial CF line. Pads sit on your shoulders, and your feet stay planted on a footplate, so lifters at home or in a facility can train heavy squats without balancing a barbell.

Starting Weight Before Any Plates

What is the starting weight on the Hoist Power Squat? The hoist lists it at 67 lbs (30 kg) unloaded. That is the load the lever already puts on your shoulders before a single plate goes on.

Count it in every set. Your real load is the lever's starting weight plus the plates you add, so log the full total if you track progress over months.

Key Features of the Hoist Power Squat

Hoist builds these details into the frame:

✅ Pad and footplate fit a wide range of users.
✅ Upright frame keeps the footprint compact.
✅ Band pegs on both sides add band tension
✅ Lockout secures the lever between sets.
✅ Sealed-bearing pivot moves smoothly and quietly.
✅ Covered horns protect the frame and cut noise.
✅ Built-in storage keeps plates within reach.

If your plates and floor space are ready, add the Hoist Power Squat CF-3359 to your cart today. You can also compare it with the other plate-loaded squat machines in our range.

Loading the Machine and Using the Lockout

How do you use a power squat machine? The routine is the same for every set:

  1. Load plates evenly on the weight horns
  2. Step onto the footplate, shoulders under the pads
  3. Stand to take the weight, then release the lockout
  4. Squat to a depth you can control
  5. Drive up and re-engage the lockout before stepping off

Hook bands onto the pegs only once your plate-loaded sets feel solid, because a band adds tension as the lever rises.

Is the Hoist Power Squat Right for You?

Match the machine to how you train before you order.

A good fit if you:

  • Train legs at home without a partner
  • Already own a set of weight plates
  • Want a leg station beside your rack

Look elsewhere if you:

  • Need one machine for presses and pulls too
  • Have no plates and no budget for them yet
  • Want to build barbell balance and bar path

The lever's unloaded weight is the lightest squat this machine can give you, so it cannot start anyone below that load.

If you are rehabbing a knee, hip, or back injury, ask your physician or physical therapist whether loaded squats suit you before you buy.

Floor Space and Delivery Planning

How much floor space does the Hoist Power Squat need during use? More than the frame alone. Hoist does not publish a clearance zone around the machine, so leave room on both sides to load plates and room behind the footplate to step on and off.

Picture a two-car garage with a power rack on one wall. Set the Power Squat, where you can walk around both sides with a plate in hand, and measure your door and the path to that spot before the freight truck arrives.

Fitting out a studio or club? Book a gym design consultation and we'll help you place the machine on your floor plan.

Power Squat, Hack Squat, or Barbell?

Choose the Power Squat if you want a dedicated lever squat on its own frame; choose the Roc-It Hack Squat/Dead Lift/Shrug RPL-5356 if you want one plate-loaded Hoist frame that also covers deadlifts and shrugs.

Delivery, Returns, and Hoist Warranty

Hoist is not on our free-shipping brand list. You can return the machine within 30 days of purchase with a receipt or proof of purchase, provided it is working, undamaged, and back in its original packaging; damaged or incomplete returns may get only a partial refund. A 25% restocking fee applies, you pay the return shipping, and equipment unboxed and used beyond testing can't be returned. Cancelling before the order ships costs 2.5%, and every term is in our shipping and returns policy.

Hoist's warranty sheet places its CF line under commercial terms: 10 years on the body and frame, 5 years on structural moving parts, 3 years on bearings, bushings, and pulleys, and 1 year on finish, cables, upholstery, and accessories. Hoist defines commercial use as a facility that charges monthly dues or serves more than 50 users a day, and the coverage goes to the original purchaser for manufacturer defects only.

Buying for a home gym? Call us before you order, and we'll confirm with Hoist how the warranty applies to residential use.

Hoist Power Squat FAQs

What does a power squat machine work on?

Hoist says the CF-3359 targets the glutes, thighs, calves, and lower back, with the aim of building muscle, size, and lower-body power. How the work spreads across those muscles depends on your foot position and depth.

Are squat machines worth it?

They are worth it when you want a fixed path you can repeat every session and an easy way to add load in small steps. Lifters who compete in the barbell squat should keep the bar in their program, and our comparison of power squats and leg presses helps if a leg press is also on your list.

How do you use a power squat machine for glutes?

Place your feet a little higher on the footplate and sink deeper, which shifts more of the work to your hips and glutes. Change one thing at a time so your knees and lower back stay comfortable.
