Body-Solid G5S Multi-Station Gym Machine With Perfect Pec Station

The Body-Solid G5S is a single-stack multi station gym machine with six training stations and a 210 lb selectorized stack, upgradable to 260 lb. It covers pressing, pulling, rowing, curling and leg work in an 81" x 55" frame, and carries Body-Solid's In-Home Lifetime Warranty.

Most home gyms make you choose between what a machine can do and what it can survive. This one is rated for commercial use and built for total-body training, which is why it ends up in basements and small studio floors alike.

Six Stations, One 210 lb Stack

Six stations share a single 210 lb selectorized stack, so you change exercises by moving your body—not by re-routing cables. The no-cable-change design is the reason a G5S session flows instead of stalling.

Here is exactly what each station gives you:

  • Press Arm—Chest Press, Chest Mid-Row, Back Hyperextension, Incline Press
  • High Pulley—Lat Pulldown, Triceps Pressdown
  • Mid Pulley—Resistance Ab Crunch, Triceps Extension, Lateral Fly
  • Low Pulley—Biceps Curl, Seated Row, Oblique Bend, Leg Adduction & Abduction, Upright Row, Lateral Deltoid Raise
  • Leg Developer — Leg Extension, Leg Curl

The Multi-Grip Press Arm drives chest, incline, and shoulder press movements with deep, effective muscle interaction. Turn around, and the mid-row handles let you train the mid and lower back for flexibility and strength—no sitting on the floor to row.

The Perfect Pec™ Station is where the G5S separates itself. Swivel arms handle unilateral and bilateral movements, opening up the maximum stretch for deep muscle toning and serious upper body development. A dual-cam design with variable resistance lets your arms work independently.

Do multi-station gyms build real muscle? Yes—muscle responds to mechanical tension and progressive overload, and a 210 lb selectorized stack supplies both. What matters is whether the stack scales past your current strength, which is why the 260 lb upgrade exists.

The Space It Actually Needs

Plan around 86" L x 84" W x 84" H of live working area, not the 81" L x 55" W x 84" H frame. That gap is the number most buyers miss, and it is the difference between a machine that fits and a machine that fights you.

The frame is what ships. The live working area is what you actually occupy once the press arm swings, the pec arms open, and your legs extend. Body-Solid publishes both figures, which most manufacturers do not.

How much space do you need for a multi-station gym? For the G5S, roughly seven feet by seven feet of clear floor and seven feet of vertical clearance. Tape the live working area on your floor before you order—not the frame dimensions.

Measure the delivery path too. Doorways, stair turns, and landings decide whether a freight-sized strength machine reaches the room you planned for it.

How the G5S Is Built

Heavy-duty 12-gauge steel construction carries the frame, which is why the unit stays rigid under a full stack instead of flexing on heavy pressing days. Every G-Series multi-gym shares this build standard, and it is the reason Body-Solid machines outlast the chain-store category by a wide margin.

The engineering details that matter over a decade of ownership:

  • Extra Thick DuraFirm™ pads with lumbar support provide comfort and prevent lower back strain
  • Durable electrostatically applied powder coat finish resists scratching, chipping, and peeling
  • 2,200 lb. tension strength, military spec, steel aircraft cables with nylon sheath for durability and low maintenance
  • Easy to use, space-saving, no-cable-change design
  • Telescoping, chrome-plated seat post for quick, smooth adjustments and proper body positioning
  • 4½" pulleys in impact-resistant fiberglass-reinforced nylon with precision-machined steel ball bearings, for prolonged cable life and smooth movement
  • Optional aluminum pulley replacement kits
  • Self-lubricating bronze bushings at every station, with biomechanically accurate pivot points for friction-free shaft rotation

Station hardware is equally specific. The SmoothGlide Bearing System™ glides you friction-free through the press and leg developer stations on a biomechanically accurate pivot point. The Integrated Leg Developer CAM prevents resistance drop-off at the end of the movement, so the last few degrees of a leg extension still load the quad. Self-aligning, contoured leg extension cuffs adjust themselves throughout the movement. The Gas-Assisted Seat Post telescopes on chrome plating for easy adjustment, and the Flip-Up Seated Row Foot Plate stabilizes you under heavy resistance.

One thing an experienced lifter should know: on any interconnected single-stack gym, pulley ratios differ between stations. The load you feel at the press arm will not match the load at the low pulley on the same pin setting. Log your working weights per station rather than assuming the pin number transfers.

Every G5S ships with a lat bar, straight bar, ankle strap, ab/triceps strap, the Body-Solid Total Body Workout™ DVD and a full-size exercise chart. Product manual, schematics and the full product data sheet are available as downloads on this page.

Who the G5S Suits

The G5S fits the lifter who wants club-quality total-body training from one footprint and plans to keep the machine for a decade. It is a single-stack gym with a commercial application rating and a total-body exercise focus.

It serves solo lifters, couples sharing a spare room, families with mixed strength levels, trainers running sessions at home, and small studios or corporate wellness rooms that need one dependable unit.

It is the wrong machine if you want two people loading different weights at the same moment, or if your ceiling sits under seven feet.

Is a multi station gym worth it? For most home buyers, yes. One G5S replaces a press station, lat tower, row station, pec deck and leg developer, and a single commercial-rated unit usually costs less than the separate stations it makes unnecessary.

Can two people use a multi-station gym at once? Not simultaneously on a single-stack design. Two lifters can superset across different stations, but they share one pin and one stack. If genuine parallel training matters, you need a dual-stack machine.

One decision you must make before ordering: the G5S has space for one attachment at a time, between the optional Leg Press/Calf Press Attachment (GLP) and the optional Inner/Outer Thigh Attachment (GIOT), both sold separately. You cannot run both. Pick the one that matches your weakest training gap.

G5S vs G6BR at a Glance

Both are Body-Solid single-stack gyms with the Perfect Pec™ station. The press arm and the footprint are what actually separate them.

Warranty, Shipping, and Setup

The G5S carries the Body-Solid In-Home Lifetime Warranty, which covers everything for the life of the machine, plus a Light Commercial Warranty for higher-traffic settings. That combination is unusual at this price, and it is the single strongest reason to buy new through an authorized channel.

Hamilton Home Fitness is an authorized dealer shipping to all 50 states from our Tennessee base, and Body-Solid equipment ships free. Buying authorized is what keeps your warranty valid and replacement parts available years from now.

Plan for two people and several hours to assemble a machine this size. Clear the space, stage the hardware, and check your delivery path before the freight truck arrives.

G5S Questions Answered

Can I fit both the leg press and the inner/outer thigh attachment?
No. The G5S has space for only one attachment at a time, between the GIOT and the GLP. Both are sold separately, so choose based on whether you need heavier compound leg work or dedicated hip adduction and abduction.

Is the G5S rated for a light commercial gym?
Yes. Its application rating is Commercial, and it carries a Light Commercial Warranty alongside the In-Home Lifetime Warranty. Studios, corporate wellness rooms, and training facilities can run it, though the single stack limits throughput when several members train at once.

Should I order the 210 lb or 260 lb stack?
Start with 210 lb unless you already press or pull near that range at a commercial gym. Remember that pulley ratios change the felt load per station, so the pin number is not your bench number. The 260 lb upgrade exists for lifters who will run out of stack within a year or two.

Will the G5S fit a basement?
Only if you have the height. The machine stands 84 inches, and the live working height is also 84 inches, so a seven-foot ceiling is the floor, not a comfortable margin. Overhead lat pulldown work needs your arms above that.

Does it work for taller lifters?
The telescoping, gas-assisted chrome seat post adjusts smoothly across user heights, and the self-aligning leg extension cuffs adapt through the movement. Adjust the seat before your first working set rather than fighting the geometry.

What comes in the box?
A lat bar, straight bar, ankle strap, ab/triceps strap, the Body-Solid Total Body Workout™ DVD, and a full-size exercise chart. Optional aluminum pulley replacement kits and the GLP or GIOT attachments are purchased separately.

What if I am still choosing between models?
Compare the full range of home gym machines by stack size, station count, and footprint before committing. Sizing the machine to the room first is the cheapest decision you will make.
