The APE Commercial T and Back Row Combo is a plate-loaded, chest-supported T-bar row machine: you lean into a padded support, take one of several grips, and row a loaded handle toward your chest. It suits gyms, studios, and garage setups that train heavy back rows.

What a Chest-Supported T-Bar Row Train

Is a chest-supported row the same as a T-bar row? Not quite. A classic T-bar row has you hinge over the bar with nothing holding your torso, while a chest-supported version braces you on a pad so your upper back can pull without your lower back holding the hinge.

Training at home without one yet? Our guide to chest-supported dumbbell rows shows the same pattern on an incline bench.

Key Features of the APE T and Back Row

What the design does for your back training:

✅ Chest pad keeps your torso still under heavy loads
✅ Grip choices shift the work across your back.
✅ The foot platform gives you a stable base.
✅ Plate loading lets the load grow with you

Ready for heavier rows without the strain of hinging? Order the APE combo today, or compare our other plate-loaded back machines.

Is the APE T and Back Row Right for You?

Check both lists first.

A good match if you:

  • Train heavy rows several times a week
  • Coach lifters who need strict, supported rows
  • Already own a set of weight plates

Better to skip if you:

  • Want a pin-loaded weight stack
  • Prefer a free-standing T-bar row with no pad
  • Have no room for a machine this size

APE builds and ships this machine as an import, so allow 45 to 60 days for delivery.

Chest Supported or Open T-Bar Row?

Choose the APE combo if you want your torso braced on every rep; choose the Body-Solid STBR500 T-bar row if you prefer the classic open hinge.

Want each arm to move on its own? Our plate-loaded standing iso row pairs chest support with independent arms.

Delivery, Returns, and Warranty

APE is not on our free-shipping brand list. Custom imported items are for final sale, with their warranty still in force. Other returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase with a receipt or proof of purchase when the machine is working, undamaged, and in its original packaging, with a 25% restocking fee and return shipping to you; equipment used beyond testing can't come back, and cancelling before shipment costs 2.5%, as our shipping and returns policy explains.

Each APE unit carries its manufacturer's product warranty, and terms vary by model, so we confirm the coverage for this machine with you before you order.

Chest Supported T-Bar Row FAQs

What muscles does a chest-supported T-bar row work?

Mainly the lat, rhomboids, and middle trapezius, with the rear shoulders and biceps helping. Because the pad holds you in place, more of each rep goes into the upper back instead of balancing your body.

What is a plate-loaded row machine?

A row machine you load with weight plates instead of moving a pin on a stack. The load climbs one plate at a time, and the machine needs no power.

Is a chest-supported row good for beginners?

Yes. The pad fixes your position, so beginners can learn to pull with the back before handling heavier free-weight rows. Start light and add one plate at a time.
