Body Solid Pro ClubLine Series 2 Inner and Outer Thigh Machine (S2IOTX)

The Body Solid Pro ClubLine Series 2 inner and outer thigh machine (S2IOTX) is a full commercial, selectorized leg machine that trains hip abduction and adduction from one seated position. Seven cam positions fit different body sizes, and you choose a 160 lb or 235 lb stack.

Most hip work gets skipped because it feels awkward on cables or bands. This machine removes the excuse. You sit once, pin the weight, and train both movements without changing cables or hunting for an attachment.

What This Thigh Machine Does

It handles two exercises—hip adduction and hip abduction—from a single seat, which is why gyms buy it instead of two separate stations.

The dual-function design is the whole point. Inner thigh work pulls the legs together against the pads. Outer thigh work pushes them apart. Switching between them takes seconds, so a member finishes both sides of the hip in the time a cable setup takes to configure.

What muscles does an inner and outer thigh machine work on? The adductor group along the inner thigh and the hip abductors, including the gluteus medius and minimus, along the outer hip. Both matter for lateral stability, walking mechanics, and how well the hips hold position under heavier compound lifts.

Three details make the movement feel controlled rather than fiddly:

  • 7 position cam adjustments set the starting range, so a 5'2" member and a 6'4" member both get a proper stretch instead of a compromise.
  • Hand grips give you something to brace against, keeping the torso still while the legs do the work.
  • Two-position foot supports hold the lower body in place through the full range, which protects your form on the last hard reps.

An instructional placard is mounted on the machine, so new users can set up correctly without waiting for a trainer.

Built to Take Real Gym Traffic

The frame is rated for full commercial use, not light residential duty—that rating is the difference between a machine that lasts a decade and one that loosens in year two.

Construction is 2"x3" twelve-gauge steel, part of a heavy-gauge steel frame with all-4-side welded construction. Welding every side instead of two removes the flex that develops in cheaper machines when hundreds of users load them daily. You feel it as a machine that stays quiet and planted instead of shifting under a heavy set.

The fully shrouded weight stack does two jobs. It keeps hands and clothing away from moving plates, and it hides the stack for a cleaner look on a member-facing floor. Thick DuraFirm pads handle the comfort side, reducing the pressure-point fatigue that ends thigh sets early.

The black finish is new for 2025, which matters if you are matching this piece to a recently updated Body-Solid circuit.

Is a hip abduction machine worth it? For a commercial floor, yes—it is one of the most consistently used stations in any gym, particularly among general members. For a private home gym, it earns its space only if hip training is a real priority rather than an occasional add-on.

Choosing a 160 lb or 235 lb stack

Pick the stack by who trains on it, not by budget alone. Adductors are stronger than most people expect, and outgrowing a stack is expensive to fix later.

Weight stackBest fitTrade-off
160 lb (73 kg) standardHome gyms, single-household use, general members, gentle hip strengtheningStronger lifters can reach the top pin on adduction.
235 lb (107 kg) upgradeCommercial floors, athletic programs, mixed-ability membershipsHigher cost and heavier freight

A simple rule: if more than one strong lifter will use it weekly, order the 235 lb upgrade. If it serves one household or a low-traffic wellness room, the standard 160 lb stack is enough.

Who It Suits Best

This machine fits facilities and serious home gyms that already train legs properly and want the hips covered honestly.

It works well for commercial gyms, boutique studios, hotel and corporate wellness rooms, sports programs, and home setups with the floor space for a dedicated station. Older adults and general members tend to gravitate to it because the seated position is easy to enter and easy to control.

If you are using hip work as part of a recovery or rehabilitation plan, talk to your physical therapist or physician first about appropriate range and load. This is training equipment, not a medical device, and progression should be guided by your provider.

Skip it if your floor space is tight and you still need core compound stations. In that case, a Series 2 functional trainer covers more movement patterns per square foot, and you can add the thigh station later as the circuit grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the S2IOTX the same as the S2IOT?
They are the same Pro ClubLine Series 2 inner and outer thigh station, with S2IOTX/1 as the current SKU carried here. Older manufacturer literature and downloadable documents still reference the S2IOT designation. Parts and functions are consistent across the naming.

Can I use this machine in a home gym?
Yes, provided you have the floor space and freight access. It is built to commercial standards, which is more machine than a home strictly needs—but that is exactly why it holds up for decades of household use.

Do I have to change cables between exercises?
No. Adduction and abduction are handled from the same seat through the cam adjustment, which is the main reason this station moves members through faster than separate machines.

How do the 7 cam positions actually help?
They set how far apart your legs start. A shorter user picks a narrower setting for a comfortable entry, while a taller or more mobile user opens it up for a longer stretch on the outer thigh.

Will the standard stack be enough for athletes?
Often not on adduction. Trained athletes frequently work near the top of a 160 lb stack, so athletic programs and busy commercial floors should specify the 235 lb upgrade at order.

Does it need regular maintenance?
Very little. Keep the guide rods and pivot points clean, check the shroud fasteners periodically, and inspect the cable during routine facility maintenance like any selectorized station.
