Body-Solid G3S: The Multi Station Gym Machine for Home Lifters

The Body-Solid G3S is a residential single-stack multi station gym machine with a 160 lb selectorized weight stack. It covers pressing, pulling, rowing, leg extension and leg curl work in an 80" x 47" footprint, and suits solo home lifters or a household sharing one machine.

What the G3S Actually Does

The G3S replaces four separate machines with one frame and one weight stack. You press, pull, row and train legs without leaving the seat or swapping a single cable.

What is a multi station gym machine? It is a single frame that combines several resistance stations around a shared weight stack, so one unit covers movements that would otherwise need a rack, a cable tower and two isolation machines.

Here is what each station on the G3S gives you:

  • Multi-grip press arm — chest press, incline press and shoulder press from one adjustable arm.
  • Mid row handles — mid and lower back work without sitting on the floor to reach a low pulley.
  • Lat pulldown — full range of motion through unilateral, bilateral, converging or diverging pulls.
  • Leg extension and leg curl — one adjustable station with thick foam rollers, running on the SmoothGlide Bearing System.
  • High, mid and low pulleys — curls, pressdowns, rows and cable ab work, with no cable changes between them.

The no-cable-change design matters more than it sounds. Momentum dies when you spend ninety seconds rethreading a cable between sets, and the G3S removes that friction entirely.

Will It Fit Your Room?

Measure before you order. The G3S frame is 80" long, 47" wide and 84" tall, and you need working clearance on the active sides on top of that.

How much space does a multi station gym need? Plan for roughly 8 by 8 feet of usable area. The frame itself occupies about 26 square feet, but the press arm swings, the seat slides, and you need room to stand and reach at the lat station.

Ceiling height is the constraint people miss. At 84 inches tall, the G3S clears a standard 8-foot ceiling, though a low basement with ductwork can end the plan before it starts. Run a tape measure from finished floor to the lowest obstruction, not to the joists. If you are planning a whole room rather than a single machine, you can book a gym design consultation and have the layout mapped before anything ships.

160 lb Now, 210 lb Later

The base stack suits most home lifters for years, and the upgrade path removes the risk if it doesn't.

A 160 lb selectorized stack is not 160 lb of barbell. Cable and lever stations change the effective load, so the number that feels light on a deadlift feels honest on a lat pulldown or a press. Most buyers find the ceiling on pressing first.

Is 160 lb enough to build muscle? For the great majority of home training, yes. Hypertrophy responds to proximity to failure and consistent volume, not to a specific plate number, and 160 lb reaches failure on almost every station here. Advanced pressers will outgrow it soonest.

Use this rule: if you already press your bodyweight for reps, order the 210 lb upgrade with the machine. If you don't, start at 160 lb and add plates when the stack stops challenging you. The upgrade is plates, not a new gym.

Who It Suits, and Who It Won't

Buy the G3S if you fit this profile:

  • You want one machine covering full-body strength in a spare room, basement or garage.
  • You train alone, or your household trains in turns rather than at the same time.
  • You want guided movement paths that let you push hard without a spotter.
  • You prefer a permanent, quiet, fixed setup over loading and unloading plates.
  • You value a lifetime warranty and an authorized dealer over the lowest sticker price.

Look elsewhere if any of these apply:

  • You need a commercial-rated frame. The G3S is tagged residential only, and a gym, studio or corporate facility should size up.
  • Two people need to train simultaneously. One stack means one user at a time.
  • Barbell squats and deadlifts are the centre of your program. A guided gym supplements those lifts; it does not replace them.
  • You want a machine that also does cardio. Plan conditioning separately.
  • You are training around an injury or returning from surgery. Clear the program with your physician or physical therapist first, and treat any equipment as one part of their plan.

G3S vs the Bigger Body-Solid Gyms

Three single-stack gyms, three different buyers. This is the honest split.

The G3S wins on footprint and price. Step up only if you need a dedicated pec station, a heavier starting stack, or a commercial duty rating. Both larger models sit in the all-in-one home gym machines range if you want to compare them side by side.

G3S Questions, Answered

Does the G3S come with a weight bench?

No. The G3S includes a lat bar, straight bar, ankle strap, ab/triceps strap, a Body-Solid Total Body Workout DVD and a full-size exercise chart. A separate adjustable bench is worth adding if you want flat and incline dumbbell work alongside the machine.

What ceiling height does the G3S need?

The frame stands 84 inches tall, so an 8-foot ceiling clears it. Measure to the lowest obstruction in the room, including light fixtures, ducts and garage door tracks, since those are what actually stop the install.

Can I add a leg press station to the G3S?

Yes. Body-Solid offers an optional leg press and calf press attachment that carries up to 420 lb of resistance, which turns the G3S into a genuine lower-body machine rather than a leg extension station.

How hard is the G3S to assemble?

It is a large freight item that arrives across several boxes and needs an unhurried block of time. Body-Solid publishes a full product manual and a schematic for the G3S, both linked on this page. Line up a second person for the frame stage and lay out the hardware before you start.

Is the G3S rated for commercial gym use?

No. It carries a residential-only rating. A gym, studio, school or corporate wellness room should specify a commercial-rated model instead, both for warranty coverage and for the duty cycle that multi-user traffic demands.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

The Body-Solid Lifetime Warranty covers the frame and welds, the bushings and hardware, and the pads, cables and grips. Buying through an authorized dealer is what keeps that coverage intact.

Order With Free Shipping

At $2,260.00, the G3S costs less than the separate stations it replaces, and it arrives with the manufacturer warranty behind it.
